Ho perso la voglia di rimanere in piedi,
cieche memorie
si intarsiano di parole.
Ingabbiati orli succinti
sono ombre di velate offese,
ho perso liete parole
che verdeggiavano su crinali d’alba
portandomi tramonti incantati.
Che d’io possa ancor
intravedere i tuoi occhi
in questi angusti angoli oscuri
nei tessuti portati a bocca,
nelle tetre dimore del tuo io
or portami luce
abbandona quell’oscura vanità
e inonda di pieno sole
gli angoli oscuri della mia mente.
Ch’io possa graziar le tue membra
al color fugace,
di te che porgi la mia velata tristezza;
ho arso tra pieghe infauste
di questo inquieto mio vagare.
Regna mia soave scrivente
tu, si tu, ancora tu,
a infliggere questo mio tormento
solchi di muri divisori
che porgano le tue assenze.
No! No, che esso sia
la fine del mio canto
nelle tue mani.

MAY I STILL GLIMPSE THE DAWN
I have lost the will to remain standing,
blind memories
they are inlaid with words.
Caged skimpy edges
they are shadows of veiled offenses,
I have lost happy words
that green on the ridges of dawn
bringing me enchanted sunsets.
May I still be able to
glimpse your eyes
in these narrow dark corners
in mouth-worn tissues,
in the gloomy abodes of your self
now bring me light
abandon that dark vanity
and floods with full sun
the dark corners of my mind.
May I pardon your limbs
to the fleeting color,
of you who offer my veiled sadness;
I burned between inauspicious folds
of this restless wandering of mine.
My gentle writer reigns
you, yes you, you again,
to inflict this torment of mine
furrows of dividing walls
that offer your absences.
No! No, let it be
the end of my song
in your hands.
